I’m In!

17 Oct

So, I had a pretty exciting day yesterday!  Among all the work-related and junk emails came this:

2013 Ride For Missing Children CNY – Notice of Confirmation

Dear Rider,
The Executive Committee of The Ride for Missing Children is very honored to have received and processed your application as a Rider in The Ride for Missing Children CNY – 2013. You are now confirmed as a member of the Friends of Missing Children Team for 2013.
(….blah, blah, blah….more important information regarding The Ride, which I won’t bore you with………..)

On behalf the Executive Committee of the Ride for Missing Children CNY, and everyone at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, we want to Thank-You for joining us in our mission: “to make our children safer …one child at a time”.

I knew I would be confirmed, since returning riders always are, but I was just really excited to know that I am going to be a part of this ride again this year.

You can check out a recap of last year’s 100 mile ride here.  And click the picture for the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children’s website for more information about The Ride and the cause:

    That’s awesome Chris!
Is that picture from the actual ride? Is the whole 100 miles in that formation?
I’m toying with the idea of doing a 100 in May, so if I do, you will surely be my inspiration 🙂

      Hi Jessica!

Yes, that is an actual picture from the ride. I chose that picture because it was my most emotional moment from the ride. It was a silent tribute right before one of our stops. If you look closely at the trees lining the road, you can see police officers standing at attention holding the hand of a child dressed in white. All you could hear were bagpipes playing in the distance and the tears of almost every rider that passed.

We ride two by two the entire ride. It is truly an amazing sight to see.

You could totally do the 100 miles. No problem! 🙂

Wow, that’s pretty intense. Teared up a bit now just reading it.

And just so you know, we ‘cleaned up’ the line right before the silent tribute. We don’t really look THAT great riding two by two the entire 100 miles. 🙂
